Global Insights. Innovative Solutions. Trusted Elections.

Americans deserve elections they can trust

As confidence in democratic institutions declines and election administration becomes more complex, strengthening our electoral systems—and building trust in them—has never been more important. The Democracy Renewal Group explores practical solutions and global best practices to help build elections that are strong, representative, and trusted.

The Elections Initiative brings together comparative research, policy analysis, and practical experience to better understand the opportunities and challenges facing elections in the United States. We know how election systems function, how democratic institutions respond to emerging threats, and what reforms can strengthen both integrity and public confidence.

Drawing on decades of international election experience, we translate lessons from around the world into practical insights for American policymakers, election officials, civil society organizations, researchers, and citizens. Our work includes research, election integrity monitoring, comparative case studies, scenario planning, and developing tools that help strengthen democratic resilience.

The Democracy Renewal Group's Elections Initiative brings together international election experts with decades of experience supporting election officials, civic groups, courts, political leaders, and voters at every stage of an election. Our expertise includes observing elections, supporting administrators, engaging voters, preventing election-related conflict, resolving election disputes, tracking threats and pressure from governments and other groups, and expanding opportunities for the political participation of women, people with disabilities, and communities often left out of the process.

Together, initiative members have supported elections in more than 50 countries, including Afghanistan, Georgia, Hungary, Iraq, Kenya, Tunisia, Mozambique, and Serbia. We bring lessons from that work to the United States. By adapting best practices and internationally recognized principles, we help identify risks and strengthen the institutions that protect American democracy.
